#SMR Panettone with Coffee

December 13th, 2009

Working another night shift, I will be missing this weeks #smr (Sunday Morning Ritual).

The Mrs. and I will enjoy some Panettone with of course *drum roll* coffee while decorating the Christmas Tree! (See I am not so Grinchy after all.)

panettone

Lil Boo on the other hand will be enjoying a fabulous repost of a prior #smr….

Does it get any better than waffles??

Yes.

Waffles in the shapes of animals!!!

We have found an awesome lil boo approved waffle mix- that tastes GREAT!

Those cool folks over at Namaste Foods did it again (I should really contact them!!) – A yearly supply of #smr waffle mix sure sounds like a wonderful idea!

Gluten Free Waffle Mix (also free of: wheat, soy, corn , potato, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, and casein – all of which lil boo is allergic).  Fantastic!

Animal Waffles

Animal Waffles

The Goods:

  • One Bag of Namaste Foods Waffle Mix
  • A Cow
  • A Duck
  • One Strawberry
  • Egg (or substitute)
  • Oil
  • Water (in our case Rice Milk)

Directions:

Really simple,

  • Mix the ingredients listed above from the directions on the bag. (you may have a difficult time with the cow and duck…if so see the next step)
  • Heat up your waffle maker (These are awesome!  The one we purchased came with the cow and duck options – I suppose it makes eating more enjoyable?? *mooo* *mooo* *quack* *quack* – whatever!)
  • Pour batter into waffle maker and presto….before you know it….yummy waffles!

Be sure to use REAL syrup – not that fake corn syrup crap!  Slice up a strawberry, or your favorite fruit choice and enjoy!

It is that simple.  Lil Boo devours his waffles every time!

Now I must thank the mrs. for finding the Namaste brand, they make an abundance of products that are allergy friendly and easy to make.  I am by no means a chef/cook/whatever and this was very easy to make!

Also, note I am not sponsored/paid by or have been given any product by Namaste Foods, this is purely my own doing as for once now lil boo can enjoy a array of foods, of which in the past he was not able too.  (Though if Namaste Foods would like to offer anything, I would gladly accept!!)

What is on your #smr (Sunday Morning Ritual) table this morning?

Enjoy!

#SMR Aztec Eggnog

December 6th, 2009

happysanta

This party busting holiday drink will even make Santa put down his Mai Tai and join the Elves for a caroling good time!

Welcome to this weeks #SMR (Sunday Morning Ritual) Holiday cocktail, the Aztec Eggnog.

Recipe:

  • 4 cups eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup grated Mexican chocolate
  • 8 ounces (1 cup) reposado tequila
  • Mexican chocolate shavings

Directions:

In a large saucepan, whisk together the eggnog, nutmeg, cloves, and cocoa power until well combined.  Heat the mixture over medium-low heat until simmering (do not boil!).  Slowly add the grated Mexican chocolate, whisking until the chocolate is melted.  Remove from the heat, add the tequila, and stir.  Serve in heat proof mugs.  Garnish each with a sprinkling of Mexican chocolate shavings.

Serves: 6 (4 for me – 2 for you)

If you do not want to use tequila (why wouldn’t you?) you could mix it up with bourbon, rum or brandy for a different flare.

Cheers!

Happy #smr (Sunday Morning Ritual)

Enjoy!

#SMR Russian Quaalude

November 22nd, 2009

Russian-Quaalude

As another #smr Sunday Morning Ritual comes and goes, I hope everyone enjoys this absolute knock you on your @ss cocktail!

I will be snoozing away the morning, as we worked another night shift – on into the wee morning hours.  Perhaps I should have ended it with a Russian Quaalude?!

I think not.

Friday night I tested out this drink, and all I have to say is seriously you best just sit yourself down in a nice comfy chair and say GOODNIGHT!

Without further adieu here is the ‘actual’ recipe for a Russian Quaalude:

  • 3/4 ounce Frangelico
  • 3/4 ounce Irish cream liqueur
  • 3/4 ounce vodka

Shake Miss Frangelico, Mistress Vodka, and Mrs. Irish Cream vigorously with ice and pour in either a cocktail glass or an ice-filled old-fashioned glass.

Cheers!

Now that you are half blasted beyond belief, drinks for your thoughts/comments.

What would everyone think of doing either a YouTube variation of the #smr or perhaps even a live #smr event on Ustream?  Please leave a comment with your opinions, it would be appreciated.

Enjoy!
