James Davison, born in Grindleford, England, on Sept. 20, 1943, passed away on June 17, 2010.

Jim is survived by his wife Vickie of 36 years; son Cameron; daughter Samantha; daughter-in-law Colette; grandson Liam; sister Margaret Turner; and niece Tracy.

Jim enjoyed traveling, reading and teaching himself foreign languages. He taught himself Chinese and the art of writing Chinese.

It is never a good day to come home and hear of the loss of someone, or anyone for that matter.  Prescott lost one of its finest to a better place wherever that may be….

Here’s to a jolly laugh that could be heard throughout the town, one that could only belong to Sam Jacobs!

May 1, 1928 – June 6, 2010

Sam was born in Greely, Colo. He moved to Prescott 18 years ago. He is survived by two sons, Larry and Steve; a daughter, Devra; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Nora and Eli; and three great-grandchildren, Alora, Emma and Benjamin. He passed peacefully without pain – a short time after literally singing and laughing, and assuring those present that he was very happy.

Sam was a devoted father and grandfather, and was married to his wife Ellie for 57 years. He grew up in Carlsbad, N.M. – working in his parents’ businesses – Roy’s Rock Shop and the New Mexico Indian Trading Post. Sam attended New Mexico Military Institute and later Colorado State University at Boulder. After graduating College, he joined the U.S. Army and was in the Army Corps of Engineers, achieving the rank of Captain in the Reserves.

Sam went on to become a very successful aerospace engineer, well-known for his expertise in metallurgy. He was a president and fellow of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering and a longtime member of the American Society for Metals. After retiring from aerospace, he worked with his wife Ellie in real estate, where they did well as a husband/wife team – and this is how most of Sam’s friends in Prescott came to know him.

Sam was an expert photographer, and taught many others the craft of photography and color printing. He was rarely seen without a favorite camera in his hand.

Sam’s wish was that his friends gather for a party to celebrate his life, which was full and complete. As per his wishes, there will be a party from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Casa Sanchez, 1459 West Gurley in Prescott, to honor Sam’s life.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family.

I am always open to trying new foods, at least once.  I mean how else are you to know if you like or dislike something, right?  What would life be like if you only ate at McDonald’s everyday – One SUPERSIZED Happy Meal!  No Thanks….enjoy the two most recent alternative delicacies I have indulged myself in….along with a few of my favorites.

On a more divine note, try the braised rabbit (Open-Faced Ravioli, Pancetta, Sugar Snap Peas, Baby Carrots, Rainbow Chard, Rabbit Consommé) at Cork in Chandler, it is absolutely fabulous! If you like duck, a suggestion would be the roasted duck on bok choy at Thai Elephant in Tempe, the Chef was in awe that I requested his favorite.  Finally, never – ever pass up sushi!  Yes, I even subject Lil Boo to some of the ‘finer’ foods (no escargot or chicken feet – that’s my insanity).

Nothing beats a good old fashioned Sunday morning nose cleaning, I suppose this is what I deserve after a #daddyfail last night.  Little one’s forgive easily, though they do not forget.  Sometimes we hit highs and lows in life.  It is up to us to decide what we feel is worth the high points and how to turn around those low points.  Times are changing, cheers for hearing my rant off yesterday, I know it wasn’t all light hearted in a Peas and Bananas fun loving feeling sort of way.
