Gabe Watson Arizona Cardinals - Daddy Bookins Peas and Bananas

How ironic is this, just the other week during a Monday Mingle I called out my dislike for sports.  This past weekend at a birthday party for one of Lil Boo’s friends, Gabe Watson from the Arizona Cardinals was present.  Let it be known that this Daddy-O is taller than Gabe, and that is all I have on him – as the photo does not do me justice.

Gabe was a pure delight, especially during the photo op, I was quite blunt.

Gabe, I have to tell you something….I don’t know who you are, who you play for, what you actually do in football….I don’t even watch football!  -  daddy bookins

As he almost hit the ground in uncontrollable laughter….he thought it was pretty cool I was just honest.  After that, our conversation never tackled football.  Yes, seriously there is more to life than football, and Gabe is proof of it!  Cheers MM (you know who you are) for introducing me, heck I might even start watching football now……nah no way…..sorry Gabe you along with the rest of the Cardinals Defensive Line may have to drag me to the stadium.  Cheers for the laughs! (I warned you I would post this on the blog and twitter)

I know…not so wordless…

Welcome to the continuation of the YOB Years! Where all you need is a BIG Hug!

Peas Out!

  1. Cool!! He sounds like a way cool parent and a down to earth guy.

  2. I knew I should’ve gone to the party! I LOVE football! I love all full contact and blood sports tho… *sigh*

  3. Emily – There’s no doubt that Gabe and his wife would be GREAT parents, plenty of photos with the kids!

  4. I’m with you. We have Australian rules football and I can’t stand it. I think it’s more the fanaticism of any sport that I don’t like. I am fortunate to have a partner who sides with me on this one.

I can be partial to watching Soccer if someone else has it on due to the skill involved.

Glad you had some laughs and discussed all things (not) football.

  5. You get a football player to a kid’s bday party? You make miracles. Also, we have a great food challenge going on: Eating your words! a fun challenge, a great prize and not yet announced, a celebrity judge!
